PAC Meeting Monday February 20th 2012

Approval of minutes from Jan 23rd 2012 meeting: Moved by Tara, seconded by Ange . Approved.
Approval of agenda: Moved by Jayne, seconded by Ange. Approved.

TREASURERS REPORT: By Natalie Sache
  • No bill for the ticket printing.
  • Poinsettia extra $15.00 banked.
  • Photo Bonus $302.13 banked
  • Vertical Zone donation $350.00
  • $540.00 for Zumba classes.
  • Field Trip donation ($10 per student) $2,400.00
  • Gaming account now empty.

HOT LUNCH REPORT: By Amy Herfst
  • Hot dog lunch Feb 10th made $259.60
  • Pizza day Feb 3rd made $284.34
  • Extras such as ketchup, foil etc. to be added in at the end of the year, not individual lunch dates.
  • Bounced cheque remitted.
  • Hot Lunches falling on a school trip – student to have a credit on their account.

PRINCIPALS REPORT: By Ruth Neufeld
  • Pink eye is going around so keep your child at home.
  • Staffing – A new EA has been appointed to ECE for a new student.
  • Mrs Epp is retiring on March 23rd.
  • No report cards being sent home, email/contact your teacher if you want to discuss your child's progress.
  • Basketball coaches, Girls – Ms Eburn, Boys – Vic Schmidt/wife and Casey Sas
  • Keep up the 60minkidsclub.
  • First SPC meeting held – Julie and Jaimie to gather information and inform parents.
  • Kindergarten registration by March 1st
  • PALs, skating and Math Mania all went well. Great vibes regarding the Math Mania definitely a go ahead next year.
  • Chillspell – Jalen Edwards, Marley Edwards and Terrell Zacharias represented the school.
  • Newsletters by email only now.
  • Use the website for all school information
FUNDING REQUESTS BY STAFF:
  1. Staff want to move forward with upgrading our technology, 2 smart boards have been already purchased out of the school budget. Staff would like 2 more., $2,000.00 each.
  2. 4-6 new projector screens are being installed by the school district, staff want to upgrade them to short throw projectors, $400.00 each
  • Bonnie motioned to buy 2 x smart boards ($4,000) and 4 x short throw projectors ($1600), Jaimie seconded. Voted on, nobody opposed, therefore motion carried.
  1. All 4 year old laptops are being replaced by the school district with new ones.
  2. Would the PAC care to donate monies toward the hershies kisses for the Grade 6 candygram? $0, $65, $100 and $115 options, Mixed views therefore the PAC voted on sums, $100 donation most votes, Nicole motioned a $100 donation, Anne seconded. Motion carried.
PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT ISSUES:
  • At last the new spinners and gliders have been installed, however due to many injuries the spinners are being removed and replaced. Items being refunded by Henderson and PAC Natalie motioned to purchase 3 more at an extra cost of $1,389.92, Bonnie seconded. Motion carried.
  • The glider is also being upgraded free of charge by the manufacturer due to it being mounted too high up and the slider not being very slippery!!

NEW BUSINESS:
  • Natalie requested to transfer $5,000.00 from the savings account back into the chequeing account in order to cover the new spending. Lorraine motioned, Bonnie seconded, nobody opposed, motion carried.
  • Lorraine suggested that the PAC do a BIG fund raiser next year instead of lots of little ones. Many agreed to this.
  • Gift for Sue Epp discussed
  • Scholastic Book Fair to be run by the PAC. Date to be confirmed.
  • Wednesday February 29th – Anti Bullying Day, the Peers are getting a notice out for wearing pink shortly.
  • Movie Night Booked for April 26th, 2012
  • DPAC Meeting on Feb 23rd if anyone was interested in attending.
