New Business
A Presentation
was made by Andrea Gieselman from the Chilliwack YMCA asking for our assistance
in promoting this free program. Please spread the word to any families that may
fit the criteria.
MEND (Mind,
Exercise, Nutrition, Do It) is a program that is geared for 7yrs-13yrs olds and
their families. It teaches and educates about healthy behaviours, choices and
activities. It is a 10 week program that runs twice a week on Thursday evenings
and Saturday mornings for 2 hours. Next program starts January 9 at Evergreen
Hall. This is a free program for children who qualify. Criteria for program is
based on child’s BMI (body mass index) for those who are above average weight. On
completion of the program you receive a 3 month Family pass to the YMCA
Treasurer Report
Natalie reported
that the cost for the Meet and Greet BBQ was $591.81, we paid our share of
$198.71. For the Terry Fox we contributed $247 for bussing costsWe had another NSF Cheque returned from Hot Lunch. Natalie will look into it.
School District gave us a grant $150
The PAC then took a vote to pay half of Mr. Baker art fees – Everyone agreed to continue this (Mr Baker visits all the classes throughout the year, children really enjoy it)
Gaming Grant Money:
MJ made motion to give $10 per child for field trips from the Gaming account- all agreed
MJ made a motion to purchase school sign up to the amount of $3500 from the Gaming account – all agreed
Hot Lunch

Lunch dates are November 29, December 6 and December 20Check BC Healthy Schools website for food choice options
Turkey Lunch on December 13 (Catered by Chilliwack Senior)– we will need volunteers to help with set up of tables and chairs and setting tables at 10am. Anne will email Tia to find out if she can contribute plates/cutlery
PAC voted and agreed to pay for half of the Turkey Lunch
Principal Report
Deneen obtained
2 quotes for school jerseys and staff will vote on options – trying to find
shirts that will last .
School shirts –
good feedback, thank you Sherry. Samples are located across from the office. Fire Drill – went well even though it was not scheduled for that day (alarms went off when there was work being done on the heating system and dust vented out) remind kids to wear their inside shoes
Earthquake drill- went well
Lock down drill – needs to communicate better to parents to avoid confusion
Deneen will check the storage for emergency stuff
Read a thon brought in $500
Schoolastic book fair – thank you to volunteers $4000 made to purchase Library books
Deneen needs to meet with members to discuss School Growth Plan – Jaime V and Ange volunteered
Deneen talked about an Art Starts grant – The grant covers $750 of the $1000 cost. Was the PAC willing to cover the remaining $250? –Natalie motioned to pay the $250 - PAC took a vote and agreed to cover the remaining cost and Deneen will start the grant applications
The Art created is a 2 piece mosaic by Bonny Krulicki- each child will contribute to the project and have a piece in the mosiac

Mitten Tree will be set up starting December 2 – If you can donate new mittens, scarfs, toques, please bring in and we will decorate the tree in the front lobby and then donate before we close for Christmas break
Carolling – 2 days a week in hawks nest – Tuesday and Friday mornings – starting on December 3
Report Cards issued – December 6
Christmas store – December 12 and 13 - please bring in donations of items that the kids can purchase for $2 for parents, grandparents
Movie Night – Friday, December 13, doors open at 5:30pm – Pizza orders will be sent home if you want to order. The movie will be a Christmas theme, possibly Arthur’s Christmas
Christmas concert – dress rehearsal on afternoon of December 17th – parents welcome to attend this if they are unable to make the concerts
Christmas Concert - Afternoon on December 18th and evening on December 19 – ticket requests will be sent home – Goodies and Coffee to be available – Amy will coordinate
December 20th sing along and visit by Santa – parents welcome – will take place after lunch
Pancake breakfast set for February around Valentines
Next meeting
will be Friday, December 13th at 8:30am. If parents are able to stay
afterwards to help with the Turkey lunch set up, the help will be very
appreciated.
